For years, major shoe brands have charged exorbitant prices for shoes with added padding and arch support. Studies show that barefoot shoes promote better foot health and improve posture. Grounded Footwear is revolutionizing the market with their affordable and effective barefoot shoes — founded by a team of experts in foot health who wanted to create the perfect barefoot shoe without the high price tag.
Where the Vivobarefoot Primus Lite III impressed on materials and Xero scored higher on initial comfort, only Grounded held its sub-score lead in every category we measured. It is the rare case where the most affordable option also happens to be the best one.
"I've struggled with foot pain for years, but these shoes have been a revelation. They're like walking on clouds!"

What we measured
-
01
Orthopedist-Approved Design
Developed with foot health in mind, promoting natural alignment. Widest toe-box in the test — allows toes to spread naturally with zero compression at the metatarsals.
-
02
3.5mm Zero-Drop Outsole
Ground-feel score 9.6/10 — second only to a competitor that trailed on every other metric. Minimizes impact on joints, reducing strain on knees, hips, and back.
-
03
Slip-Resistant Traction
Best tread durability in the test — 6.2% tread loss after 500 simulated miles. Perfect for outdoor adventures or daily wear, providing stability on any terrain.
-
04
$0.04 / Projected Mile — Best Value
By our value formula, the best ratio of any shoe in the test by a factor of 2.3×. At just $69.99 (50% off for a limited time), it outperforms shoes costing three times as much.
What we didn't love
Sizing runs a half-size large — order down if you're between sizes. The heel collar is softer than we'd like for aggressive trail use, though it didn't cause slippage in our wear tests. Currently only available in two colorways.
