Skip The Hype. See What Actually Works.

Most gadget reviews online are rewritten press releases. Ours aren't. We work through home and everyday tech — cooling, heating, energy, cleaning, security — and report what held up in use and what didn't. When we haven't had a product in our hands, we say so plainly instead of pretending otherwise.

Who we are

A Small Team, A Long List Of Gadgets

Consumer Expert Tech covers the kind of products that show up in ads long before they show up in stores — portable air conditioners, plug-in heaters, energy savers, spin scrubbers, mini security cameras. It's a category full of big promises and thin evidence, which is exactly why it needs someone checking.

So we buy or request the product, live with it for a while, and write down what actually happened. Sometimes that means a genuinely useful product. Just as often it means a device that can't do what the ad implies. Both are worth publishing, and we would rather lose a commission than talk you into something you'll end up returning.

Lived With, Not Skimmed

We run a product for days, not minutes — through the conditions you would actually use it in.

Built To Last?

Materials, seams, fans, batteries and switches — the parts that fail first get the most attention.

Worth The Asking Price?

We weigh it against cheaper alternatives, because “works fine” and “worth the money” are different verdicts.

HOW WE WORK

What happens before we publish

Every product goes through the same sequence, so one review can be compared against another instead of each being written from scratch.

  • Shortlist — we find what is actually being advertised and sold right now
  • Acquire — we buy it ourselves, or request a sample and disclose that we did
  • Use it — set-up, daily running, and the awkward edge cases the ads skip
  • Check the claims — we test the specific numbers printed on the box
  • Read the complaints — owner reports and returns tell you what breaks at month six
  • Score it — against the same criteria every time, so rankings mean something
  • Revisit — verdicts change when a product changes, and we update rather than bury

Where a review is based on manufacturer specifications and owner feedback rather than our own hands-on use, the page says so. We would rather tell you the limits of what we know than dress it up.
